You can easily get books from old paperbacks, notepads, user manuals etc.
Cut a Strip of suitable width from the spine of the book with a carpet knife (or Guillotine cutter).
Cut into books of the height you prefer. Cut out pictures from advertising leaflets for book covers, glue in over the pieces of books.
